The Church of St. Munchin in Cameron has a long and rich history of serving the spiritual needs of its parishioners. Since its inception nearly 137 years ago, St. Munchin's has strived to be a true reflection of the Body of Christ, committed to being a welcoming, caring and supportive faith community. Today, St. Munchin's aspires to live its mission, offering sppiritual means that help all parishioners learn and live their Catholic faith.

In 1857 when Father John Hogan came to northwest Missouri there were perhaps 12 Catholic Families in the area. of the five places where Mass was scheduled, Cameron was the last to have been established and therefore only had Mass when there was a 5th Sunday in the month.

In October 1866 a tract of land was purchased in Cameron and a church was constructed. Five years later it was decided to enlarge and renovate the church and in 1873 a two story fram parish house was built. As the years went on and the community continued to grow, the parish for the second time had become too large for the frame of the church and construction on a new brick church was begun in October 1893.

In order to continue providing ministries, proclaiming the good news, worshiping together and educating our children, we need to expand once again. Buildings and resources are only a means to an end. They are the vessels that contain and nurture our many ways of expressing God's love. They provide the setting in which we pass on to future generations the beliefs, values and teachings of our Christian heritage.
